Kurtosion® Patent Issued

Vibration Research Corporation (VRC) announces that US Patent 7,426,426, SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR SIMULTANEOUSLY CONTROLLING SPECTRUM AND KURTOSIS OF A RANDOM VIBRATION, has been issued to Philip D. Van Baren and assigned to VRC. According to company President, John Van Baren, "This patent protects our unique Kurtosion® control, a means of performing random tests that have more severe amplitude distributions than Gaussian noise provides, to better simulate measured product environments. Unlike prior methods, Kurtosion® provides controlled kurtosis while maintaining the dynamic range and full amplitude and phase randomness of the signal and it applies the more severe amplitude distributions across the entire control spectrum. Since Kurtosion® is a significant new advancement for vibration control, we recognized that the methods involved needed to be properly disclosed in order to be understood and accepted by the testing community. This patent provides an avenue for this disclosure while protecting our legal rights to the method."
